NFL Draft 2013: Conversation with Daniel Cox about the Atlanta Falcons Round 2

It’s funny how things work. I have posted just one article about the NFL Draft and this is actually my first time ever keeping up with it. After reading up on the Atlanta Falcons selection I stumbled upon a pretty funny line in Daniel Cox’s story about the Falcons’ first round pick, Desmond Trufant.

Like any responsible sports fan, I tweeted about it:

Daniel proceeded to reply to me and then we had a nice little conversation about the possibilities of the second round for the Falcons and GM Thomas Dimitroff. I figured you all would gain some insight from this–I know I did. And a big thanks to Daniel for taking the time out of his day (and this is a pretty busy time for him, as you can imagine) to chat with me.

So there you have it. The Falcons are going to be looking for defensive end help, and linebackers. Cornelius “Tank” Carradine would be a gift for the Falcons if he could fall that far but it’s also possible that Dimitroff trades up again to get him. If not, expect him to go after the best DE/LB available at the time.

The Falcons currently have the 60th overall pick in the second round, and no picks in the third or sixth round after trading up with the St. Louis Rams to get Trufard with the 22nd overall pick in the first round.

For updates on the draft be sure to follow Daniel Cox and to a lesser extent, me. Let me know who you guys want to see the Falcons going after tonight in the second round.

The Falcons would love to be able to get Tank Carradine all the way down at pick number 60, but don’t count out the option of trading up to get him. Mandatory Credit: Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports
