Greetings! Before we get started, be sure to check out our look at the action from Tuesday night, when the Hawks dropped an 18-point decision at the hands of the Indiana Pacers.

Although there were many takeaways from Tuesday’s game, the biggest one seems to be that Al Horford will not make the trip to Dallas (first reported by Chris Vivlamore of the AJC) as a result of an ongoing hamstring problem. This is probably not a significant long-term issue, as the team has already shown caution by removing Paul Millsap for the rest of the preseason, but it’s something to monitor. For tonight, Elton Brand, Pero Antic, Eric Dawson, and Mike Scott are the only healthy frontcourt players, and they’ll need to fill out the (great) majority of minutes at the 4 and 5 spots.

This is a unique spot for the Hawks, as they face Dallas in the American Airlines Center just a week before returning to the same venue to kick-off the regular season. With that (and the Horford/Millsap injuries), I’d expect a fairly “vanilla” game plan here, and we may be seeing a good amount of the guys competing for the final roster spots (Royal Ivey, Shelvin Mack, etc.) in order to make those crucial personnel decisions in the coming days.

Stay tuned as tip-off approaches for any breaking news, and we are one week from the regular season!
