Just one day after cutting ties with point guard Royal Ivey, the Atlanta Hawks made another roster move. The team announced that they waived forward Eric Dawson on Saturday afternoon, and with that, the current roster sits at 15 players.

Dawson saw action in 3 games during the preseason and the 29-year-old forward from Midwestern State averaged 3 points and 4 rebounds per contest. However, he was (like Ivey and the other training camp invitees) operating on a non-guaranteed deal, and it was a mild surprise that he stuck with the team for this long.

In the aftermath of the Dawson move, the Hawks are finally in a position where they aren’t forced to make any more roster decisions. Swingman Cartier Martin and point guard Shelvin Mack still have non-guaranteed deals, but there are arguments to be made for each to be kept due to depth concerns.

There is a real possibility (and a likelihood if you ask me) that the 15 players currently on the roster will be the same 15 that open up the season on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the news wire (and/or this website) for updates as they arrive, but don’t be surprised if the team is silent until Wednesday night in Dallas.
