Happy 2014, everyone! The Georgia Bulldogs and Nebraska Cornhuskers are set to take the field in Jacksonville this afternoon, and it’s been a long wait for anyone who loves to see the Dawgs play on the gridiron. There’s nothing better than January 1st action for the college football diehard, and the first game of the day belongs to the team from Athens.

On New Year’s Eve, we took a full-length look at what’s on tap, but in short, this is an interesting game despite the “rematch” caveat that many have pointed out after the bowl schedule was set. Both teams have offensive studs and semi-questionable defenses, and while any Georgia fan would be thoroughly disappointed with anything but a blowout win, it should be a pretty entertaining brand of football.

Georgia has been installed as a 9-point favorite in the game (almost universally) giving credence to the consensus opinion that they are simply the better football team in this spot. Still, Nebraska is quite talented at certain spots on their roster (namely at running back), and with explosiveness combined with a long lay-off, nothing seems out of the question.

Stay tuned for post-game analysis, including a full recap shortly after the game, and this is a big one.
