After a stomach punch loss against the Golden State Warriors on Friday night (you can read all about it here), the Hawks have no time for rest as they travel to Chicago for a tilt with the Bulls on Saturday evening.

The Bulls have struggled to a 13-18 record this season, and they can certainly identify with the Hawks in that they’ve also lost their best player (Derrick Rose) to a season-long injury. Chicago’s offense has been a disaster without Rose, as the Bulls are currently tied for 29th (also known as dead last) in the NBA on offense, scoring only 96.0 points per 100 possessions. Still, the Bulls are always a threat given their top-end defense (3rd in the league), and the Hawks could be sluggish here.

“Kyle Korver Watch” also continues here, as Kyle knocked down a 3 in his 102nd straight game last night. Chicago’s defense would appear to be a challenge, but while the Bulls are good at curtailing their opponents from actually attempting threes (only 17.5 per game), they’ve given up a woeful 37.9% from beyond the arc. All eyes will be on Kyle, once again.

Our pals in Las Vegas have made the Bulls a 5-point favorite, and that certainly has a lot to do with the circumstances. Atlanta’s gut-wrenching loss last night followed by a long trip (and weather challenges) makes it a tough game, but on paper, the Hawks are every bit as good as the Bulls. Either way, this should be a closely-fought battle.

Stay tuned for updates throughout the night, and a full recap to follow.
