Don’t look now, but the Georgia Bulldogs are 2-0 in SEC play and tied for the conference lead. Yes, it’s only been a 2-game sample size, but Mark Fox has his team playing very good basketball right now, and both wins were over quality opponents in Missouri and Alabama. Unfortunately, the tests don’t stop for Georgia, and they have a mighty one on the road in Gainesville on Tuesday night.

The 7th-ranked Florida Gators will host the Dawgs, and on paper, this is probably the toughest game for Georgia all season. Florida is 13-2 overall and perfect at home, with both losses coming in close fashion to ranked teams. If there is a bright spot for Georgia here, though, it is that Florida’s leading scorer, Casey Prather, will be sidelined for the game with a knee issue. This is huge given that Prather is averaging north of 17 points per game, but Florida is still quite talented.

Our friends at KenPom.com have Florida as a top-15 team in the country, and that is on the strength of balance in their offense and defense. The Gators rank in the top-25 nationally in both categories, and that spells trouble against a Georgia team that is outside the top 125 in both areas (yikes).

Because of the Prather ailment, you may think that Las Vegas would cut Georgia a break here, but that’s not the case, as Florida is currently a 13.5-point favorite in the game. No one thinks that Georgia will go into Gainesville and win here, but if they can channel that magic from the past two wins, they will make this a competitive game for 40 minutes.

Stay tuned for more information as it comes, and a game recap to follow.
