Georgia Tech (11-8) hasn’t taken to the court since last Tuesday when they took down the Boston College Eagles. Today, the Jackets are going to go up against a better team in N.C. State (12-7). The Wolfpack and the Jackets are actually tied in the ACC at the moment, and it should be interesting to see who is actually the better team.

State has pretty decent adjusted numbers this season, scoring 107.9 points per 100 possessions and allowing 100.5 points per 100 possessions. These adjusted offensive and defensive numbers rank 98th and 101st in the nation. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech comes in at 223rd offensively, and 79th defensively. The Yellow Jackets score just 101.6 points per 100 possessions, but their defense is pretty solid: allowing only 99.4 points per 100.

State’s actually come off a bit of a rough stretch in the scheduling, losing four of their past six games. To be fair, three of those games were to Pitt, Duke and Virginia who are all top four teams in the conference. From a personnel standpoint, State is bringing in the best player of both teams in T.J. Warren. The sophomore forward has been scoring at an electric clip all season (22.2 points per game) and is also active on the boards (7.3 rebounds). If Tech is going to pull out a win against State, Warren is going to have to be slowed down.

Aside from him, there aren’t too many players to be afraid of from the Wolfpack. Vegas has the Jackets at 5.5-point underdogs in this one and that’s probably about right. N.C. State probably has more talent than Georgia Tech does, but most of that is in one player. This is definitely a winnable game, but Trae Golden AND someone else is going to have to go off–Daniel Miller anyone?

Stay tuned for more information as it arrives, and we will bring you a recap after the final buzzer sounds.
