After a rough patch that saw the team lose three straight, the Georgia Bulldogs had a fantastic end to last week with back-to-back solid victories, including a 12-point home win over Texas A&M on Saturday. However, both of those wins were in the friendly confines of Stegeman Coliseum and Mark Fox’s club takes to the road on Wednesday to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Starkville.

This should be a motivated MSU team, as they have lost five consecutive games. However, that is a bit misleading to their overall play, as 3 of their 5 losses came on the road with both home defeats coming against the upper tier of the SEC in Florida and Kentucky. Because of Georgia’s well-documented issues scoring the ball at times this season, there is always reason for worry on that end of the floor, but MSU has been woeful offensively in their own right, scoring only 97.7 points per 100 possessions on the season.

Las Vegas has installed Georgia as a 1.5-point favorite in the game (and KenPom projects a 2-point victory), and that gives some increased optimism in UGA’s ability to keep the winning streak going. However, the narrow spread reinforces that this MSU team is better than their record (and they are), giving reason for concern in a true road game.

Stay tuned for updates as they arise.
