The Atlanta Falcons have a relatively (by NFL standards, at least) sparkling reputation when it comes to off-field conduct, but one of the faces of the franchise has reportedly been arrested.

Okay, that wasn’t so bad.

White’s arrest for failing to appear in court after a minor traffic violation isn’t exactly earth-shattering news, and it shouldn’t be discussed as such. He was reportedly locked up for only a total of 77 minutes as a result of failing to pay a ticket issued for tinted windows (which has been a well-documented problem for multiple Falcons players), and if this wasn’t Roddy White, I don’t think anyone would bat an eye.

Still, White’s overall persona (especially on Twitter) lends itself to being the main guy on the Atlanta roster that will “mix it up” in a controversial manner, and when people see “Roddy White” and “arrested” in the same sentence, the trolls are certain to appear. On the field, White is entering the final season of that big, 6-year extension he signed heading into 2009, and after an injury-riddled season that saw him catch only 63 balls for 711 yards, there is a skeptical belief that he could be on his way out of town.

Rumblings of a contract extension have been circulating throughout the off-season, but rest assured, this latest “development” won’t affect anything in terms of his future in Flowery Branch.
