In their last appearance on the floor, the Georgia Bulldogs suffered a potentially season-derailing defeat at Arkansas, but there is still a faint glimmer of hope surrounding an at-large bid, and that quest resumes on Wednesday night. Mark Fox’s club returns home for their final game in Athens this season, as they are set to host the lowly Mississippi State Bulldogs and their 3-13 conference mark.

Not only is MSU in the basement from a standings perspective, the “other” Bulldogs are easily the lowest rated team in the advanced metrics, mostly due to their lackluster offense. Georgia’s defense has been a strength all season (currently ranked 74th nationally), and they get a serious reprieve against the 278th ranked offense (not a misprint) in MSU.

Las Vegas has installed Georgia as a 12-point favorite in the game (and KenPom projects exactly a 12-point win), and all signs point to a breezy victory. With that said, though, Mississippi State is sure to be a hungry basketball team after losing eleven straight games (yikes), and anything short of a comfortable victory would send the already dim at-large hopes spiraling.

Stay tuned for updates as they arise.
