It’s time! The Atlanta Braves are making their way through Spring Training, and as things ramp up, they will begin local television broadcasts in earnest. Thursday afternoon’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals will be televised live on SportSouth, and the lineup has been released.

It isn’t quite the “A-Team” in this one for the Braves, as B.J. Upton takes to the lead-off spot in place of Jason Heyward, and there are several backups involved. Still, everyone with the possible exception of Ernesto Mejia is a Major Leaguer in the lineup, and that makes for interesting TV.

On the mound, Freddy Garcia will take the ball for Atlanta, and after a whirlwind week in the world of starting pitching, it’ll be interesting to see if the 37-year-old can improve on his woeful 7.04 ERA in three appearances this Spring. For a bit of solace, Garcia (even when he was an above-average player) has always struggled in Spring (as evidenced by his career 7.76 Spring ERA), and the “elder statesman” should be just fine when the lights come on.
