After an opening round victory over Vermont earlier in the week, the Georgia Bulldogs are set to take on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (synergy!) in round two of the 2014 NIT Tournament. Because of the way the tournament is structured, UGA will once again play host to the game in Stegeman Coliseum, and that is a huge advantage, even with limited crowd participation as a risk factor, given the 11:00 am tip-off time.

To be honest, Louisiana Tech was one of the bigger “snubs” from the NCAA Tournament, and at 28-7, they are a very good basketball team. Defense is where La Tech makes their bread, and as a top-25 unit nationally, it’ll be a challenge for Mark Fox’s club to score consistently, leaving the great possibility that this game ends up in the 60’s when it is all said and done.

Our friends in Las Vegas have assigned the Bulldogs as a 2-point favorite (with KenPom projecting a 5-point loss), and while it may seem a tad low to the casual fan who just sees Louisiana Tech on the other team’s jersey, this is a spot where UGA would likely be an underdog on a neutral court to a very good basketball team.
