Just 24 hours after news broke that the Atlanta Falcons held a private workout with Michigan offensive tackle Taylor Lewan, there is a similar report surfacing that the team is working out Buffalo outside linebacker Khalil Mack on Wednesday afternoon.

Like Lewan, Mack has seen his stock rise considerably during the draft process, and as of this moment, ESPN Scouts Inc. ranks the 6-foot-2, 250-pound pass rusher as the number 3 overall player in this year’s draft class. Mack put up 10.5 sacks while being the object of virtual all offensive game plans while at Buffalo, and he grades out extremely well in virtually every category, leading to that lofty overall projection.

From a mock draft perspective, ESPN’s Mel Kiper currently projects Mack to go to the Houston Texans with the number one overall pick (!!!), but if he slips past Houston (which is quite possible), he would almost certainly land with Atlanta if not earlier. The headlines of the day surround the Pro Day of South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, and with good reason, but the Falcons were equally concerned with Mack, further complicating the possibilities with the #6 overall pick.
