The 2014 NFL Draft is just over 24 hours away (at the time of this post), and the league has announced an interesting promotion for the announcement of second round draft picks. In short, the NFL has selected one former player per team to announce the 32 selections, and the Atlanta Falcons pick will be announced by Hall of Famer Claude Humphrey.

Here is the text of the release:

"The National Football League announced today that 32 NFL former players, one representing each team, will announce live on Friday, May 9, second-round Draft picks from Radio City Music Hall.  This marks the fourth year in which each selection in the second round is announced by a former player. The list of players scheduled to make selections includes 11 Pro Football Hall of Famers, with five from the Class of 2014. Combined, these players have nearly 20 Super Bowl championships and 150 Pro Bowl appearances between them."

Claude Humphrey was selected as a member of the 2014 Hall of Fame class earlier this season, and it should bring a bit of extra excitement to see him announce the name of the 37th overall pick. Obviously, it won’t soften the blow if fans don’t approve of the pick (insert laughter here), but it is a nice tip of the cap to Humphrey, and it is well-deserved.
