Seattle Mariners at Atlanta Braves preview: Day baseball
By Brad Rowland
Update: The Braves have released their lineup for Wednesday afternoon’s action, and the “A-team” will be in action despite the early start time.

The “business man’s special” is always a hit at Turner Field, and the Atlanta Braves are set to finish off a quick, two-game set with the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday afternoon. In addition to the unique start time during the week, this match-up will be headlined by a quality pitching face-off between Atlanta’s Mike Minor and Seattle’s Hisashi Iwakuma.
Minor was tremendous in his last outing, as the left-hander allowed only one earned run over seven innings in a loss to the Red Sox last week. The Boston lineup presents a far more significant challenge than that of Seattle’s offense, and if Minor can present his “A-game”, the Mariners could be in for a very difficult afternoon.
On the flip side, Seattle will send 33-year-old right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma to the mound, and he is a difficult match-up for Atlanta’s lineup. The Braves have struggled against right-handers with top-shelf arsenals, and Iwakuma certainly qualifies, as evidenced by his 3.09 ERA this season and a career mark of 2.87 over nearly 400 innings. It will be interesting to see what the lineup looks like for Fredi Gonzalez and company in a day game before a day off, but the left-handed bats like Freddie Freeman and Jason Heyward could be key.
Here is a look at the particulars for Wednesday afternoon:
