Earlier in the week, it was revealed that Paul Johnson and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets do not have a lot of believers among the media when it comes to projecting the 2014 ACC season. On Tuesday, their roster took a hit on depth, as it was announced that Georgia Tech was dismissing three players, and suspending one more, Lynn Griffin, for the first two games of 2014.

Here is the full text of the statement from the program:

"THE FLATS – Georgia Tech football student-athletes Anthony Autry, Darius Commissiong and Travin Henry have been dismissed from the program, while Lynn Griffin has been suspended for the first two games of the 2014 season, due to violations of the Athletic Association’s student-athlete code of conduct.Autry, a redshirt sophomore from Roswell, missed last season with an injury after catching three passes for 117 yards in 2012. Commissiong is a redshirt freshman defensive lineman from Forestville, Md. Henry, a redshirt sophomore from Adel, came in as a wide receiver but had moved to defense in the spring. Griffin is a redshirt sophomore defensive back from Jacksonville, Fla. who played in all 12 games in 2013."

On the bright side for Johnson and company, none of the three players dismissed were expected to compete for huge playing time this season, but the loss of Griffin for the first two games could be significant. At the moment, the redshirt sophomore is penciled in as the starting cornerback on the right side, and while the first two games are against Wofford and Tulane, it is never a positive to lose a starter for any period of time.

As far as the dismissals are concerned, the biggest loss is Anthony Autry, as the sophomore receiver was expected to compete for time in multiple wide receiver sets after emerging from injury. His loss shouldn’t be terribly magnified, but the depth on the outside takes a hit.
