Roddy White set to return for Falcons against Vikings

In the midst of the utter joy surrounding the Week 3 blowout victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Atlanta Falcons were not even at full strength, as star wide receiver Roddy White stood on the sidelines as a result of a hamstring injury. However, the buzz has been positive surrounding White and a potential return to the field against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4, and now, head coach Mike Smith has confirmed that White will “absolutely” be in the lineup on Sunday.

To be honest, this does not come as a surprise, simply because it was a surprise to see White on the sidelines during the Tampa Bay match-up. All indications were that the now 32-year-old White could have gone on Thursday, but with Julio Jones and a suddenly deep receiving corps, there was no incentive to push White on to the field, especially in a limited capacity.

Now, Roddy White has been able to fully recover due to a “bye” week of sorts, and it would not be a surprise to see Matt Ryan and Dirk Koetter attempt to integrate him into the offense early and often on Sunday. It will be nice to see the offense with its full compliment of studs, and the Julio Jones-Roddy White combination remains terrifying for opposing secondaries.
