Keith Marshall dresses for practice; doubtful for Arkansas

The Georgia Bulldogs leaned heavily on the back of running back Nick Chubb on Saturday in Columbia, and if the latest news proves to be true, that may be the case again this week against the Arkansas Razorbacks. Injured RB Keith Marshall was reportedly dressed for practice on Tuesday, but despite that bit of positive news, Mark Richt has indicated that he is doubtful to play in Little Rock.

While Chubb was quite obviously “up to the challenge” of 38 carries on Saturday, Dawgs fans should know that a workload of that magnitude is wholly unsustainable. There was a bit of optimism that Marshall could return for this match-up, but the 5-foot-11, 215-pound junior has not appeared on the field since the blowout of Troy, and it appears as if that will continue here.

It is easy to forget that Marshall was once considered the “1-A” to Todd Gurley in the Georgia backfield, but he did churn out 759 yards and eight touchdowns on 6.5 yards per carry as a freshman, and Keith Marshall is very talented. However, injuries just seem to continue to pile up, and it is likely time to bank on the notion of double-digit carries for Brendan Douglas on Saturday against Arkansas.
