Atlanta Hawks vs. Charlotte Hornets preview: Wrapping things up at Philips Arena

facebooktwitterreddit

The NBA regular season is nearly upon us, and the Atlanta Hawks will be closing out their preseason home slate on Monday as they host the Charlotte Hornets and Philips Arena. Like any preseason, there have been ups and downs during the 2014-2015 edition, but for the most part, things have been positive, as Al Horford and the rest of the rotation have been getting acclimated to each other in the early going.

Horford is the main topic of conversation in the preseason, as he continues his comeback from a torn pectoral muscle that cost him much of the 2013-2014 campaign. Atlanta’s anchor did play more minutes on Saturday during a loss to the Pistons, and it will be worth monitoring to see what his playing time looks like here. Elsewhere, there are still young players jockeying for position, and free agent signings Kent Bazemore and Thabo Sefolosha are still learning the offensive and defensive systems under Mike Budenholzer.

The Hornets are a Southeast Division rival, and this is a new-look bunch with the addition of Lance Stephenson. As such, this should be a solid barometer to see where the Hawks stand at this moment.
