The Georgia Bulldogs looked virtually unstoppable at times during Saturday’s win over Arkansas, and as a team, they are operating at an extremely high level at the moment. On an individual basis, there were several impressive performances as well, and both running back Nick Chubb and defensive back Damian Swann excelled in the game to the point where they were SEC Players of the Week on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, respectively.

This was the second consecutive game in which Chubb earned an SEC honor, as he was named Co-Freshman of the Week for his performance against Missouri, but make no mistake, the Arkansas game was the real breakout for the freshman ball-carrier. Chubb’s workload took a minor step back from 38 carries against Missouri to “just” 30 carries here, but he ran for 202 yards and two touchdowns, including 127 yards on just 12 carries in the first half.

It was also an excellent performance from Swann, as he produced a career-high 11 tackles in the game to go along with a sack, two forced fumbles and an interception. Georgia’s defense desperately needs high-end efforts like this from Swann, who is basically the only bastion of experience and veteran presence in that defensive backfield, and he lived up to the challenge on Saturday afternoon.

Congratulations to both Nick Chubb and Damian Swann on this award, and both players will continue to be vital for Mark Richt’s club as they prepare to meet the Florida Gators after this week’s open date.
