The Atlanta Hawks took on the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night at Philips Arena, and came away with a hard fought victory. The come-from-behind win puts the Hawks at 4-3 on the young season, and gives Atlanta a modest, three-game winning streak. The 100-97 victory also gives the Hawks three wins in five nights as they prepare to take on the Miami Heat on Friday night.

Paul Millsap dropped 30 points against his old club, including shooting 4 for 8 from beyond the arc. Kyle Korver had a double-double of his own with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Most of the Atlanta success came from staying out of foul trouble. No starter had more than 2 fouls which allowed everyone but Horford (29 minutes) to play 3o minutes or more. The game really took off for the Hawks late in the second quarter, as they closed out the first half on a 20-4 run and turned 13-point deficit into a three-point lead heading into the locker room.

The Jazz took back the lead in the 3rd quarter putting 34 points on the board and taking a six-point lead into the fourth. The Hawks trailed by 6 and only put up 18 points in the 4th, but that was somehow more than enough to hold off the Jazz who only shot 4 of 17 in the 4th quarter and managed a whopping nine points.

Utah was led by former Georgia Tech star Derrick Favors who had 20 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Stay tuned for complete coverage of Friday’s game between the Atlanta and the Miami Heat, including a live-tweeting event at @ATLBeatBlog.
