Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. Marquette Golden Eagles Preview: Thanksgiving Hoops

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets remain unblemished with a 3-0 record on the young season, but Brian Gregory and his team encounter an interesting challenge on Thursday night. As you may know, Thursday doubles as Thanksgiving this week, and while the majority of the basketball world lays silent, the Jackets are in action in Kissimmee, Florida against the Marquette Golden Eagles.

Fortunately for Tech, it appears as if this may not be a top-tier Marquette outfit, as they have already accrued two losses including an embarrassing home defeat against Nebraska-Omaha on November 22. Still, this is the first “major” test for the Jackets since their opening win against Georgia, and given the unique, neutral-court venue, it will be interesting to see how this team responds.

The early returns from transfers Charles Mitchell and Demarco Cox have been promising, but if there is a weak link to this year’s Tech team, it comes in the backcourt. With that on the table, this is a spot to measure Travis Jorgenson and company against major conference guards, and if the Jackets can effective play to a draw in the backcourt, things should be just fine in the “Orlando Classic”.
