Atlanta Hawks vs. New Orleans Pelicans preview: The Anthony Davis Invasion

facebooktwitterreddit

The Atlanta Hawks had a nice “break” in the action on Thanksgiving, allowing the team to break bread with loved ones alongside the rest of us. However, their schedule kicks back into high gear on Friday evening, as the team embarks on the first leg of its second back-to-back over a five day period. The opponent? Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans.

Davis has been the MVP of the league through the first few weeks, so he’ll grab the headlines nationally, but this is a big game for Atlanta. The Hawks suffered an unfortunate home loss to Toronto on Wednesday night after some hot shooting by their opponent, and New Orleans is capable of doing the same to Mike Budenholzer’s team if the defense does not improve.

The Hawks could certainly huge a perimeter barrage of their own to keep up with the Pelicans, and both Jeff Teague and Kyle Korver are coming off monster games on Wednesday. Teague is showing that his ceiling may be higher than we all imagined, and he can begin living up to that newfound hype by out-dueling Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday in this spot. Regardless, it is time to strap in for some holiday hoops!
