Atlanta Hawks vs. Washington Wizards preview: Southeast Showdown

facebooktwitterreddit

The Atlanta Hawks are currently on a seven-game winning streak and are set to take on the No. 3 team in the Eastern Conference: The Washington Wizards.

In the Southeast Division, the Hawks and Wizards are No. 1 and 2 respectively, and Washington comes into this one on a three-game winning streak with victories over New Orleans and Chicago.

In their last game (a 102-86 blowout) against the Bulls, four of the Wizards’ starters scored 15 or more points. Marcin Gortat had a game-high 21 points.

Point guard John Wall leads the team with a 21.1 PER, while the team has some impressive depth to go along with that–eight players have PER’s over 14 and ten have PER’s in the double-digits.

At the moment, the Hawks have a three-game lead over the Wizards in their division and the Eastern Conference along with the Toronto Raptors. In the teams’ first matchup, Mike Budenholzer and the Hawks took a 106-102 win. Here’s to hoping they do it again and continue building on their lead in the division/conference.
