Al Horford has first career triple-double in win over Philadelphia 76ers

I’m not going to go into huge amounts of detail on the Atlanta Hawks playing the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night. Philly has only seven wins for a reason. They are absolutely terrible. The Hawks have 29 wins going into this game for a reason. They are awesome. There’s a mini-history lesson on what’s happened so far this season.

What you need to know about this game, besides the fact the Hawks won easily, is that Al Horford got his first career triple-double! Al had 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Sheldon Mack had a double-double of his own. Yeah, it was against Philadelphia, but it’s important for teams never to play down to their competition and the Hawks didn’t. They dominated.

The most impressive part of the game was how the Hawks really turned it up in the second half after a very lackluster first half. Both teams seemed intent on figuring out who could turn the ball over more in the first and second quarters. But instead of getting into a bad slugfest, the Hawks rose above the fray and started burying buckets. The Hawks shot 48 percent from the floor, and 52 percent from 3-point land on their way to their ninth straight road win.

Oh, and they also did it all while resting three of their starters. Jeff Teague, Paul Millsap, and DeMarre Carroll didn’t even play in this game. Yet, the Hawks still won by 18 points. They are that deep and that good. That’s why you should be really excited about this team going forward. That, and they are the second team to reach 30 wins on the season.

Next up, the Hawks play the second part of a back-to-back in Boston. Don’t miss it!
