Where will the Atlanta Braves find runs in 2015?

In Braves Country, one thing is certain for the 2015 season: CHANGE.

Justin Upton goes west. Hometown hero Jason Heyward leaves Atlanta fans feeling like they lost their best friend. Evan Gattis gets traded for “who?” And when pitchers and catchers report in a few weeks, they will have to wear name tags.

Many questions about the Braves are in every fan’s head. The biggest one is probably the fearful wonder of how the bats will swing in 2015. The returning starters for the Braves had a collected batting average of .249 last season. Infielder Chris Johnson could not duplicate his impressive 2013 campaign, batting only .263 for the year. BJ Upton finished off with a .208 average. And while SS Andrelton Simmons was effective on the bases, he batted under .250 as well. All eyes now turn to the man who stands at first base. Freddie Freeman will be called on to carry the lineup to hits, runs and wins.

Enter the new faces: Woodstock, GA native Nick Markakis and second baseman Alberto Callaspo. While Markakis gives fans optimism with his steady production at the plate over his career, Callaspo has been tagged as a “fill-in” until prospect Jose Paraza is ready to take over. And he fills the 2B slot with a mediocre .226 average.

As the calendar slowly shifts to spring, the baseball bug will begin flying around. Excitement will build as we see the Navy and Red uniforms trotting around the Disney World ball fields. But with that excitement this year comes an added sense of nervousness. All will be fine and accepted in Braves Country.

As long as the bats come alive in 2015.
