Atlanta Hawks vs. New Orleans Pelicans preview: Going on 20

facebooktwitterreddit

After making NBA history in the month of January, the Atlanta Hawks head to New Orleans to face the Pelicans and will try to start February off on the right note, and extend their winning streak to 20 games.

The Pelicans are sitting in last place of the Southwest division–the deepest division in the NBA–and are coming off of a 108-103 win against the Los Angeles Clippers.

While the Hawks have been lucky in regards to health for the majority of this season, the team has been dealing with a few injuries. DeMarre Carroll is questionable for tonight’s game as he continues to deal with an Achilles strain, while Thabo Sefolosha and Shelvin Mack have been hampered by calf injuries–Sefolosha will be out the next 6-8 weeks.

Fortunately for Atlanta, the Pelicans are dealing with some injury issues of their own. Anthony Davis–aka the best player in the NBA at the moment according to PER–is coming off of a groin injury and is expected to be back tonight. Still, the Pelicans should go easy with him tonight and there’s definitely the chance that he won’t be 100 percent against Atlanta. This is a good thing.
