Atlanta Hawks vs. Orlando Magic preview: building another winning streak?

facebooktwitterreddit

The Atlanta Hawks haven’t won three straight games in the month of February, but tonight against the Orlando Magic, they’ll get a chance to do that.

Losses to the New Orleans Pelicans, Memphis Grizzlies, Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors have made this month a tame one in comparison to the rest of the season, but the 19-40 Magic should be manageable tonight.

Orlando is coming off of a 93-90 overtime loss to the Miami Heat, where Nikola Vucevic scored a game high 26 points on 10-of-21 shooting, while picking up eight rebounds as well. Vucevic has been far and away the team’s best player, with a PER of 22.4. He’s averaging 19.9 points per game and 11.3 rebounds per game on the season.

The next closest player is Tobias Harris, with a 16.6 PER and 17 points per game.

As a team, the Magic are near the bottom of the league in every major category: No. 25 in points per game, No. 28 in rebounds per game, No. 27 in assists per game and No. 24 in points allowed.

Despite all of this, Orlando has shown they can beat Atlanta this season, scratching out a 100-99 back in December when the teams played each other for the second time.
