The Atlanta Hawks begin a tough, six-game road trip out west beginning tonight, and they’ll start by facing the Denver Nuggets.
As tough as the Atlanta Hawks (50-13) road trip will be for the next few days, they’ll hang tough knowing that they’ve already secured a spot in the playoffs.

Now, they’re just fine-tuning, trying to stay healthy, and hoping to win enough of their remaining games to also secure home court advantage in the East. Piece of cake, right!?
I’m not sure how much fine-tuning the Hawks really need however. The 76ers may have snagged an upset against our beloved and hot Hawks, but then the Hawks were resting some key players.

They snapped right back in the following game against the Kings with a season-high 130 point effort, and a 3-point shooting and assist extravaganza!
The Denver Nuggets on the other hand are struggling at 23-41, and dealing with the recent firing of head coach Brian Shaw. Melvin Hunt is now blowing Shaw’s former whistle as interim, and the Nuggets seem to have perked up a little despite the small sample size.
You know they will be doing all they can to try and put the Hawks in their place, and the history between these two clubs, at least in Denver, favors the Nuggets. I think we can safely deem any previous history moot with this current Atlanta team.
