UGA WR Chris Conley is a Kansas City Chief

The Kansas City Chiefs selected University of Georgia Wide Receiver Chris Conley with their third round selection.  Kansas City is notorious for its inability to yield long-term success with their wideouts. Now that Dwayne Bowe plays for the Cleveland Browns, Chiefs HC Andy Reid drafted a guy he knows can catch the ball in Conley.

More from UGA Football

Conley will join his UGA QB Aaron Murray in the Fountain City playing in Arrowhead Stadium on Sundays.  Chris will like playing in Arrowhead as it’s the most collegiate-like atmosphere in the NFL.  Plus, the Dallas, Georgia native is already familiar with the War Chant.

In the passing game, I feel he can immediately connect with starting QB Alex Smith.  Smith plays a controlled game like that of UGA’s Hutson Mason where Conley will get a lot of passes thrown to him between the hash marks.  While Conley elevated his draft stock tremendously with the best combine of any receiver in the draft, Chris has to improve on breaking press coverage if he wants to be a featured target in Andy Reid’s passing game.

Perhaps even more importantly, Kansas City is getting another DGD in Conley.  In my life I have never heard a football player speak as eloquently as Chris Conley does.  He will be a great leader in the Chiefs locker room and a man of high character in the Kansas City community.  Just because of that he will be adored in KC.  Anything he does for the Chiefs on the gridiron is an added bonus to this young man’s outstanding character.

UGA fans, I wonder what Chris Conley’s next Star Wars film is going to look like now that it’s on an NFL salary budget.

I can’t wait to see him make great third down catches for the Chiefs in Arrowhead. Chiefs fans, you are lucky to have a man like Chris Conley now on your team.
