The Atlanta Braves have lost their last five games and have only scored 14 runs in their last eight ball games, going 1-8 in their last nine ball games.  Atlanta’s offense has been anemic for some time and winning a World Series in 2015 just isn’t a realistic possibility any more, not that it really was to begin with but you want to remain optimistic for as long as you can about your favorite team’s chances to play in the Fall Classic.

President of Baseball Operations John Hart has not had any difficulty making trades since taking over for former GM Frank Wren back in October.  As painful as some of these deals have been to endure, especially his most recent transaction with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Miami Marlins, Hart has said “he has one eye on the present and two on the future” with the future being 2017 when the Atlanta Braves move into SunTrust Park in the Cumberland area of Cobb County.

For the most part, John Hart has won most of these high-profile trades, revamping our entire Minor League system in one season.  Atlanta was 26th entering 2015 and are now on the verge of having a Top 5 farm system.  That’s what you call a hyper-accelerated rebuilding process.

We’ve seen so many new faces this year, whether it has been a seasoned veteran or a young kid getting his first taste of The Show.  The 2015 season for the Atlanta Braves has had its highs and lows (mostly lows of late), but I’ve grown to appreciate many of the veterans John Hart brought into the organization to accelerate the necessary culture change in the clubhouse.

While it might get ugly real quick before the season ends, here are five veterans I’m glad that John Hart kept around to stay with the 2015 Atlanta Braves for at least the rest of the season.
