Atlanta Braves To Host Rockies During 7-Game Skid

The Atlanta Braves brief road trip to San Diego and Chicago was horrid for the ball club, dropping all seven games on last week’s slate.  Atlanta has won only two road games since the All-Star Break and will now face the team swept them into the Mid-Summer Classic: Walt Weiss‘ Colorado Rockies.

I know there’s no place like home, but thank goodness the Atlanta Braves won’t have to travel away from Turner Field until a September 3rd trip to the National’s Capital.  The Atlanta Braves have lost their last 9 games away from the Ted, are 2-17 on the road since the All-Star Break, and are 2-22 as the visiting club since blowing a convincing against the Milwaukee Brewers on get-away day on July 8th.

Though the Braves boast a winning record at home, I’m slightly terrified about the Colorado Rockies, a club that Fredi Gonzalez‘s team just can’t seem to beat.  I want to feel optimistic about the Atlanta Braves’ chances in their three game set with the Colorado Rockies, but I’d be lying to you if I thought the Braves would win this series, given the way the club has played of late.

However between Julio Teheran and Shelby Miller‘s starts tonight and on Wednesday respectively, I think Atlanta can at least win one of those games.  Mike Foltynewicz actually pitched well against Colorado before the All-Star Break, albeit as a reliever.  Does he continue to pitch decently against Colorado or does the long ball factor into the equation like it did in his last start against the Cubs.  We’ll find that out on Tuesday night.

I’d be extremely disappointed if the Atlanta Braves’ losing streak extends to 10 after getting swept at home by the Colorado Rockies.  That would mean Atlanta went 0-7 against Colorado this season, who could have seen that coming?  All hope isn’t lost since Atlanta is an above .500 club at home.  Maybe Julio Teheran continues his home brilliance this evening.  Even crazier, does Shelby Miller get the mythical 6th win of the season as the Braves’ ace?

All I know is that we’re not making the playoffs, Hector Olivera will likely make his Big League debut this week and Alex Rodriguez‘s New York Yankees come to town this weekend.  But for now, let’s try to play some competent baseball against the Colorado Rockies.  Do that and maybe together we can get somewhere as any place is better than where the club’s head is currently at.  Go Braves!
