SEC Football: Around the Perimeter, Eps. 8

Good Morning, Atlanta!  You are listening to Around The Perimeter here at ATL All Day.  We have a ton of great content on our 8th episode.

This week, Co-Editor John Buhler and I welcome guest Niall Lutes and discuss SEC Football. Niall delves into the current state of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks, taking a look at the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Niall is concerned about the inexperience at the quarterback position, but the defense should be solid for USC.

Later in the segment, John, Niall and I look at the college football landscape including some more SEC Football, taking a stab at predicting conference champions, as well as the four teams who could earn a spot in the college football playoff. There is not a consensus during our round table discussion, as Niall believes that Ohio State and Auburn are locks for the playoffs, while John believes that TCU and Michigan State have a shot. We do agree that definitely one SEC Football team will make the playoff.

In our second segment, John and I react to the Atlanta Falcons third preseason game against the Miami Dolphins this past Saturday. The offensive line is definitely a concern coming out of the game for the Dirty Birds, while the defense had another impressive showing. Paul Worrilow especially impressed the editorial staff here at ATL All Day, demonstrating the strides he has made since last season.

Of course, it wouldn’t be ATP if we didn’t cover our adopted NFL team during the 2015 season, the Jacksonville Jaguars. During our “Jax Facts” segment, we talk about the progress Blake Bortles has made this preseason, and how the Jags could place third again in the AFC South.

In the final segment of the program, John and I assess the Atlanta Braves struggles of late, having lost 12 out of their last 13 games. It is becoming more clear by the day that Fredi Gonzalez no longer belongs in the Braves’ dugout, and that his players have quit on him again. The New York Yankees scored 38 runs on the Braves this past weekend, which is simply unacceptable for a team that plays in the MLB. We pledged not talk about firing Fredi, but at this point we can’t stand to see the Braves play on a nightly basis. Where do the Braves go from here?
