Graduate transfer Patrick Skov had his first touchdown as a member of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on a 3-yard run to make the score 14-0 in favor of Tech. It was great to see Skov look just like Zach Laskey, and it looks as if he has a big year ahead of him.

The defense also played impressively, limiting Alcorn State and quarterback John Gibbs to 33 total yards in the first half. Adam Gotsis led the charge, as the Jackets began the season by forcing more turnovers. With 9:35 left in the second, KeShun Freeman forced a fumble, translating into a Tech TD in the ensuing drive.

The only blemish in the first half was a fumble by Marcus Marshall in the second quarter. Alcorn State attempted a 35 yard field goal at the end of the first have, only to miss a last second field goal to keep the shutout intact, with the score 48-0 at the half.

Alcorn State began the second half with the ball, and promptly looked like a different team. The Braves marched down the field, having a touchdown negated on a 5 yard penalty by their offense. The Tech defense would fail to stop the Braves on a 4th down play in the red zone,  setting up Alcorn State’s first score of the game by Aaron Baker, making the score 48-6. The Braves would fail to convert a fake field goal attempt.

GT went over 400 yards of total offense with 9 minutes still left in the 3rd. Patrick Skov would score his third TD of the game with 5:29 in the third, a four yard run to make the score 55-6. Marcus Marshall would score his second TD of the game on the ensuing drive off a 64 yard run. At that point in the game, Marshall had 184 rushing yards on only 8 carries.

Third-string quarterback Brady Swilling would score the final touchdown of the game for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets with 12:09 left in the 4th quarter. Swilling’s 1 yard touchdown run would give the game its decisive score of 69-6.
