The Atlanta Falcons move to 4-0 after clobbering the Houston Texans Sunday afternoon. What did we learn about Atlanta from this Week 4 victory over Houston?

We got what we wanted to see from the Atlanta Falcons’ game against the Houston Texans: complete domination of an inferior opponent at home. Atlanta put up 42 points on J.J. Watt and the Texans before the start of the 4th Quarter. Though Houston’s backup QB Brian Hoyer orchestrated 3 straight scoring drives, it was too little to late for the Texans, as Atlanta blew them out 48-21.

The first three weeks of the season were great, all Atlanta Falcons’ victories, but we hadn’t seen this Atlanta team lay down the hammer on a team they were better than. Our Atlanta Falcons had to overcome three consecutive 4th Quarter deficits to move to 3-0. Many key starters didn’t play in the 4th Quarter in Week 4 for Atlanta.

The offense is firing on all cylinders entering Week 5’s home date with the Washington Redskins. Defensively, the Falcons are forcing turnovers that result in points, sometimes of the immediate variety, like the two scoop and scores in Week 4. Atlanta did not have to rely on its special teams all that much in this game. One of the best units in football got to play a less taxing game than normal in Week 4.

Through the first quarter of the 2015 NFL Season, your Atlanta Falcons look fantastic and most would agree that this team is a legitimate contender in the NFC in 2015. Without further ado, here are my five biggest takeaways from Atlanta’s 48-21 dismantling of the Houston Texans in Week 4.
