The season opener was definitely not how the Atlanta Hawks wanted to commence the 2015-2016 campaign, as they failed to counter the size and the physicality of the Piston’s front-court of Andre Drummond and Marcus Morris. The Pistons outworked the Atlanta Hawks on the glass on Tuesday, out-rebounding the home team 59-40 which in the end was the biggest difference in this contest.

Dennis Schroder led the way with 20 points on 8-14 shooting, including going 2-5 from beyond the three-point line. Paul Millsap also had a good game for the Atlanta Hawks, scoring 19 points on 7-15 shooting, while also corralling 8 rebounds and recording 3 assists.

Though it’s only one game amidst an 82-game schedule, Tuesday’s contest evidenced some flaws in the Hawks’ game plan, while also displaying some other areas of concern. The Detroit Pistons are by no means the class of the Eastern Conference, but their size and physicality gave the Hawks plenty of problems.

It’s still very early in the season, but there is some cause for concern given last night’s results. Here are 4 observations from last night’s game against the Detroit Pistons.
