The Atlanta Braves traded veteran right-handed pitcher Bud Norris on Thursday in exchange for two minor league pitching prospects, Philip Pfeifer and Caleb Dirks.

The Atlanta Braves continue the rebuilding process, this time by sending veteran pitcher Bud Norris to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for two minor league pitching prospects. That’s right, more pitching prospects.

The Braves picked up plenty of pitching prospects in the 2016 MLB first-year player draft, and then some shortly after. Now, they’ve added two more. It appears as though the Atlanta Braves can’t stock up on enough young arms.

Norris was apart of the Braves’ starting rotation this season, posting a 2.15 ERA in his past five starts with the Braves and a 4.22 ERA overall. He has also been the topic of a lot of Braves trade rumors recently due to his performance. Now, the 31-year-old will head to the Dodgers.

In exchange for Norris, the Braves acquired left-handed relief pitcher Philip Pfeifer and right-hander Caleb Dirks from the Dodgers’ minor league farm system.

Pfeifer is a 23-year-old Tennessee native who was drafted in the third round (No. 101 overall) out of Vanderbilt in the 2015 MLB Draft by the Dodgers.

In his minor league career, he had a 3-1 record with a 2.53 ERA in 18 games. Pfeifer has been assigned to the Carolina Mudcats.

Does the name “Caleb Dirks” sound familiar? It should, because this 6-foot-three, 220 lb., right-hander was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 15th round of the 2014 MLB Draft.

In his minor league career thus far, he posted a 7-4 record with a 1.43 ERA in 89 games. He had 17 saves out of 23 opportunities. Dirks has been assigned to the Mississippi Braves.

Although it doesn’t seem like the Atlanta Braves needed any more pitching prospects, these two could possibly be a factor in the future, either by joining the majors or aiding the rebuilding process.
