The AP Top 25 Poll was released on Saturday, ranking the Georgia Bulldogs at No. 18. Though the Bulldogs were placed safely inside the top 20, four of their opponents this season also ranked.

Over the weekend the AP Top 25 Poll was released, and the Georgia Bulldogs found themselves at No. 18. The Bulldogs, with their 10-3 record, finished last season unranked by AP voters. This season they received 448 points, just one spot below Iowa and one spot ahead of Louisville. All in all, a total of six SEC teams ranked in the Top 25, which was more teams than any other conference.

SEC Rankings:

No surprise, Alabama ranked No.1 (for the 9th straight year), followed by LSU at No. 5, Tennessee at No. 9, Ole Miss at No. 11, and Florida at No. 25. The Georgia Bulldogs will take on four opponents this season who were ranked in the Top 25: North Carolina (No. 22), Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Florida.

For the Georgia Bulldogs, this ranking seems fitting for a team dealing with a lot of uncertainty, including a first year head coach, questions at quarterback and offseason running back concerns. On the other hand, despite all of the uncertainty, the Dawgs have plenty of talent and potential, giving them the opportunity to rise to the occasion. Las Vegas released their 2016 college football win totals this summer, predicting that the Bulldogs would win 8.5 games this season.

Though the AP poll is a nice place to start, keep in mind that it is a preseason poll. The College Football Playoff committee will begin producing its rankings from square one on Nov. 1, followed by weekly meetings to update the rankings.

The AP Top 25 poll:

Here’s how it works:

"“The AP Top 25 is determined by a simple points system based on how each voter ranks college football’s best teams. A team receives 25 points for each first place vote, 24 for second place and so on through to the 25th team, which receives one point. The rankings are set by listing the teams’ point totals from highest to lowest. The mathematical formula is the same as the one used for the AP Pro 32 rankings and the AP Top 25 rankings for men’s and women’s basketball.” – The AP Top 25 Poll"
