The Atlanta Braves have been on a roller coaster of sorts to begin the season. After winning five games in a row the club now has lost six and looks to be anything but a competitive team.

The Atlanta Braves dropped their sixth straight game on Sunday afternoon to the Phillies completing a three game sweep. Getting swept by the Phillies is comparable to losing the Browns in the NFL something no team wants to happen and something that shouldn’t happen.

Poor relief pitching and an inability to score runs have plagued the Braves for the past week. After getting swept by the Nationals the Braves traveled to face the Phillies with the same result. The offense has looked anemic and the relief pitching inconsistent at best.

The problem for the Braves is the lack of offense and surprisingly not the pitching. The Braves starting staff has pitched deep into games consistently and kept the team close. They are being rewarded with no decisions or saddled with losses if they are unable to pitch a spotless game.

If the team wants to turn around their rough start they are going to have to get on a roll quickly and find a way to win on the road. Four of the teams six wins have been at home this season. The Braves are falling apart after spending a week looking like a contending team.

It speaks to how long the Major League season is and how quickly your fortunes can change. The Braves still have enough talent on their roster to play .500 or better but are going to have to find a way to score more runs.
