Atlanta Braves pitcher Julio Teheran can’t seem to find his home field advantage
Julio Teheran, Ace for the Atlanta Braves, is a perfect 2-0 with an outstanding 0.71 ERA when pitching on the road this season. So what’s up with the two-time all-star when he’s on the bump at SunTrust Park?
Teheran is the Braves’ supposed ace, but currently sits at fifth on the team in win percentage and fourth in ERA among Braves pitchers with at least 40 innings under their belt.
Most of these numbers are due to struggles that have come in the friendly confines of SunTrust.
On the road, Teheran has pitched 25 innings only giving up two earned runs, 17 hits and no home runs.

Where at home, Teheran has pitched one less inning, 24. In those 24 innings he’s given up 28 earned runs, 35 hits and eight home runs.
In his last start, already trailing 7-0 in the top of the fourth inning to the Blue Jays, Teheran gave up a solo shot to opposing pitcher Marcus Stroman before being yanked a batter later.
It was Stroman’s first home run of his career.
It’s not as if the competition Teheran has faced is a valid excuse either. In his five home starts he’s faced the Padres, Nationals, Mets, Cardinals and Blue Jays. The Nationals were the only team above .500 coming into the game.
Teams also get up on Teheran quick in Suntrust. In home starts, he’s never pitched more than six innings. On the road Teheran has never pitched less than six innings.
