The Atlanta Braves have a big decision to make as to whether or not to move on from their struggling “ace” Julio Teheran. Rumors suggest that the Braves are looking to provide him with a change of scenery.

It is not surprise to hear the Atlanta Braves are looking to move a top player for prospects. What is surprising is the fact that the Braves would be willing to reportedly sell low on Julio Teheran. That is not to say that the asking price is low rather the Braves are willing to sell Teheran at a time when he is struggling as much or more than any time in his career.

Teheran has suffered a big setback in his numbers at home this season, unable to keep his team in games at SunTrust and rarely being the pitcher the Braves are used to seeing. While providing a change of scenery may be tempting moving Julio Teheran would be a mistake.

Not only would selling low be unwise but moving an affordable and controllable starter in the current market from a team that is looking for an affordable and controllable starter would be anti-productive.

Keeping Teheran and adding another controllable starter if possible is the best case scenario for the Braves.  Julio Teheran is an above average pitcher who will in time work through his struggles and rebuild his value waiting until he does to decide whether or not to stick with him would be in the Braves best interest.

Fans need to remember the starter that Teheran has been at his best at Turner Field before embracing the trade rumors that seem to surround him. The Braves front office has made few mistakes since the new regime has taken over moving Teheran would be a big one that the Braves would regret down the road.
