Looking at the Atlanta Hawks' 2025 offseason, it is easy to print the perfect blueprint of where the season should go. While it ignores the improbability of landing one or both targets, it is fun to imagine what the perfect Hawks offseason would look like. That starts with signing a former star as the team's backup center, and adding much-needed veteran leadership. It is time for Al Horford to come back to Atlanta and finish out his career where it all began. The veteran is a free agent after being an impactful piece of Boston's championship run a season ago.

With the Celtics expected to take a step back after the Jayson Tatum injury, if the veteran's career is going to continue, it will likely be in a new landing spot. For Atlanta, the signing gives you much-needed leadership and playoff experience. The Hawks fill the backup center spot as well, putting Horford in the best possible role, leading to the ultimate target that would force the Hawks back into national relevance.

A Perfect Hawks Offseason Includes Signing Al Horford and Landing Giannis Antetokounmpo

If there were a player built perfectly to help Trae reach elite status and contend for a championship, it is Giannis. What both players do well complements each other incredibly and would instantly form one of the best duos in the league. Antetokounmpo has made it clear he is willing to leave the Bucks, and the Hawks have the young players and draft picks to get a deal done.

If there is one piece worth spending your young players on in the 2025 season, it is the dominating force of Antetokounmpo. The problem for the Hawks is working out any potential deal without including Trae Young or Dyson Daniels. It is going to be a tough sell not to lose either of the talented guards in a trade for one of the league's best players.

However, if there is any path to the deal getting done, the Hawks cannot hesitate to add one of the most impactful stars in the league. Adding Giannis instantly pushes your franchise from irrelevance to among the league's top contenders. Even with an injured core this past season, we watched the star push his team into great playoff positioning.

If Trae and whatever is left of Atlanta's young core can take a step forward after the deal, you have built a championship contender. One that is going to force the league to pay attention to Atlanta and push the team out of mediocrity. No question, if either move has a chance of getting done, the Hawks cannot hesitate.
