After the loss tonight, the Braves optioned relief pitcher Cory Gearrin down to AAA Gwinnett.
Cory was used early and often this season with great success, but had recently come across hard times. For the season, Gearrin has appeared in 37 games and compiled 31 innings with a 3.77 ERA, but has given up 11 ERs in his last 10 IP.
The Braves have not announced a corresponding move yet. I’m not really sure where the Braves are going with this move. Cristhian Martinez had a recent setback in his rehab, and Luis Ayala has pitched decent in the minors, but one horrible outing has made his numbers look bad. I guess we will see in the morning.
