The Streak Is Over, Braves Fall To The Marlins 1-0

I guess 15 is just not the Braves lucky number in 2013.  Tim Hudson, who wears number 15 on his jersey is went down with a season ending ankle injury a couple of weeks ago, and the Braves couldn’t pick up win number 15 in a row tonight.  The Marlins pushed across the go ahead run in the 9th off Jordan Walden when he gave up a lead off triple and uncorked a wild pitch to give up the only run of the game.  In my opinion it was bad pitch selection to throw three pitches in the dirt with the winning run on third, but I digress.  Walden then took a line drive off his pitching hand and was removed from the game.  X-rays were taken and were reported to be negative, so he will probably take a few days off, but should be fine.

The Braves offense just could not get it going tonight for what feels like the first time in weeks.  They only mustered 3 hits for the game, and one of those should have probably been an error.  Paul Janish, who was in the game after Chris Johnson was ejected in the 1st inning for arguing balls and strikes, struck out looking on a questionable call with Gattis on first to end the game.

Rookie Alex Wood pitched excellent yet again.  He went 6 innings and only gave up 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 7.

Crazy how fickle some fans can be.  After losing their first game in weeks, all the twitter chatter after the game seems to revolve around Gattis hatred and people calling BJ lazy for “not hustling to the ball” on the triple in the 9th inning.  Step back from the ledge folks and enjoy the ride, time to start a new streak tomorrow!
