As of Tuesday afternoon, the Braves have placed slumping second baseman Dan Uggla on the DL to get eye surgery. MLB.com’s Mark Bowman has said that Dan is having Lasik surgery, something that the Braves have wanted him to do since Spring Training.
Dan’s recent slump has his slash line at .186/.307/.389 (.696 OPS) for the season. His current cold streak has lead to only 2 hits in his last 41 at-bats. Lasik recovery isn’t too bad, and Uggla should easily be back before the end of the season and be good to go for the playoffs.
Tyler Pastornicky has been recalled from Gwinnett to take his place and is immediately in the lineup tonight at second base.
