What’s up everyone, I hope your week is going well. Two more days until the weekend. Today was a slow day for the college teams, but there is some basketball news from one of them…

Georgia

Last night, the Georgia Bulldogs had what seems to be their first scrimmage under the lights. It went extremely well according to coach Mark Richt, and either playing under the lights pumps the guys up, or they were just well rested from no practice the day before. Either way, Richt was very happy with the results and praised the energy level that his team showed:

"“I’m glad we went at night,” Georgia coach Mark Richt said. “It was good to see them play under the lights. The first game is at night, so I’m glad we did it. There was a lot more energy than the last scrimmage, and there should’ve been. The guys were really fresh and it showed on both sides of the ball. … It was a night and day difference from the first one as far as the energy level.”"

Quarterback Aaron Murray went 14-17 in the air for 173 yards including one touchdown and one interception. Running back Todd Gurley scored two touchdowns on five carries for 33 yards. Malcolm Mitchell led the wide receivers with four catches and 58 yards. Josh Harvey-Clemons had seven tackles at safety and three passes broken up.

Georgia Tech

It was a slow day from the Georgia Tech camp as the only news to come out of their site was the announcement of the Kickoff Luncheon… whatever that means.

However, if you do actually know what that means it is going to be held August 23 at the Cobb Galleria.

Fans of the Yellow Jackets can purchase tickets to attend this for $40 a pop or $350 for a nine person table. So you’d be saving just ten dollars.

Georgia State

No news from GSU’s football this week either although there is an interesting piece on their site from earlier in the week that profiles three players. It’s part of their “getting to know” series on the football team and the first one involved Sean Jeppesen, Wil Lutz, and Robert Ferguson.

Apparently these boys like to fish and hunt.

On the basketball side of things, the GSU schedule was released. You can check out the PDF of the entire 2013-2014 schedule here.
