A Look At A Potential Brave: Alexander Guerrero

facebooktwitterreddit

News has been heating up around Cuban shortstop Alexander Guerrero and with good reason, too–the kid can play.

The 26-year old defected from Cuba and is hoping to sign with a Major League team soon. The Braves have interest in him but are not the only ones that are trying to land the shortstop who has been very impressive in some of the videos that I have seen.

Guerrero has shaven down the list of teams he would like to play for and the Braves did make the cut. Other teams are: Minnesota, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston, and Cincinnati.

There are no stats to be found (seriously I looked in every crevice of the internet so if you find some–send ’em my way) on Guerrero, but here is a video of Guerrero taking infield and taking batting practice:

You can see that Guerrero has quick hands, feet, and is quick releasing the ball to turn double plays and make outs at first. He also has good power and could very well be a big asset to any team (hopefully the Braves) in a quick amount of time.
