Uggla Hitless In First Rehab Game
By Eric Graff
Dan Uggla started his 2-game rehab assignment on Monday night with the Gwinnett Braves. Dan played 2nd base and hit 2nd in the lineup. He went 0-for-3 with 2 strikeouts, one swinging and one looking, and also grounded into a double play. Uggla was removed after the 6th inning and the Braves were trailing 12-1 when he exited. It wasn’t really a successful night at the plate for Dan the Man, but just getting back into the swing of things is good to see. Uggla is scheduled to play in another rehab game with Gwinnett tonight and if all goes as expected, he is supposed to be activated by the big league club on Wednesday.
On a side note, the newly-acquired Freddy Garcia made his first start with the Gwinnett team last night, and it went about the way I expected it to go, horribly. He pitched just 3.2 innings, gave up 8 ER on 7 hits, walked 5 and only struck-out 1 batter. Lets hope Freddy doesn’t get a call up to the big club any time soon.
