Arizona Fall League Recap: Game 3, LaStella is LaStellar

The Scottsdale Scorpions took another loss yesterday, but Tommy LaStella is still doing good things.  Here are the stats for the Braves prospects yesterday:

  • Tommy LaStella – 1-3, R, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB, SB
  • Kyle Kubitza – 0-3, 2 K, 1 BB
  • Robby Hefflinger – 0-3, 2 K, 1 BB

LaStella continues to put up “LaStellar” hitting stats everywhere he goes.  He walked twice and doubled in 2 runs yesterday, and is now 3-7 with 2 doubles, 3 RBI, 3 BB and no strikeouts in his 2 AFL games.  LaStella is coming off a ridiculous 2013 season where he put up some crazy numbers between Advanced A-Ball in Lynchburg and AA in Mississippi.  Between those two stops (mostly AA), he put up a slash line of .356/.442/.492/.936!  He hits and he walks more than he strikes out.  The biggest issue with him is trying to get him to stay healthy, as he has never played more than 90 games in his 3 minor league seasons.

The other 2 Braves hitters did not fare as well yesterday.  Outfielder Robby Hefflinger went 0-3 yesterday and is now 0-8 with 6 Ks in his two games played so far. Kyle Kubitza followed up his 3-hit game on Wednesday with an 0-3 day yesterday with 2 strikeouts and a line out.

Stay tuned for continuing coverage of the Braves prospects as they navigate the AFL!
