As one of the rare teams in the country who have already played 4 conference games, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets get a “breather” in the form of a trip to Provo, Utah to take on BYU. Of course, the Cougars are a legitimate opponent, however, as they are 3-2, including a win over the (struggling) Texas Longhorns.
Our pals in Las Vegas have the Jackets as a 6.5 to 7-point underdog in this game, and frankly, it’s hard to disagree. This offense has been in shambles recently, and a nearly 3,000-mile trip to the West against a ferocious defensive club (BYU is top-20 in the nation in points against) isn’t a cure for that. Still, the Jackets have enough talent to get a road win in this spot, and BYU’s offense has consistently ranked in the bottom half of FBS teams.
Look for a very competitive game, and it would surprise no one if this non-conference battle went down to the wire.
Stay tuned to this thread throughout the afternoon, and feel free to blast off in the comments before, during, and after the game. It may be a non-conference game, but it’s an interesting barometer for the Jackets as they proceed toward the end of their ACC schedule.
